Natural Cosmetics

The words 'cosmetics', 'toiletries' and 'perfume' conjure up a vision of pampering beauty treatments. Today the regular use of all these things is commonplace. We are drawn to claims that certain products are anti-ageing and that they help eliminate wrinkles, liver spots, dry skin and grey hair.

Dr Christian Barnard is quoted as saying that changes in the skin, which we identify with ageing, are largely due to damage inflicted on the skin cells by environmental factors. When this damage is repaired, many of the normal functions of the cells will return, allowing the skin to look younger.

Some essential oils can have a cell regenerating effect, and when blended properly this effect can be heightened.

I make a range of natural cosmetics including:

Moisturiser

Essential oils blended into a cream to create a sumptuous skin food with natural organic ingredients. Once used, nothing else compares!

A light, creamy and fragrant moisturiser which contains among other things Aloe Vera to soften the skin and counteracts wrinkles. It has a powerful healing effect on the skin, soothing burns and healing injuries. It also contains a range of nut oils, all of which provide an amazingly high sun protection for the skin. These nut oils also have natural vitamins in them, which are absorbed into the skin. Other ingredients help maintain connective tissue and help protect against bacteria.

This product can be used all over the body, as a hand and foot cream, and is good for dry skin, spots, wounds and rashes. It is totally safe on baby skin, aged skin, and can also be used on animals!

Face Cologne

This delicate cologne has a cooling and gently astringent effect on the skin. The blend of aloe with moisturisers and pH adjusters gives a fresh clean feeling to the face. To use, apply sparingly like a moisturiser to the face and neck.

Deodorant

Most deodorants have aluminium in them to prevent sweating, but this stops the skin from functioning, causing bad irritation or red rashes on the skin, especially when applied to freshly shaved areas. The Aloe Vera in this deodorant can heal and soothe any soreness. A light base is blended with essential oils including Patchouli and Geranium, both of which have a natural deodorising action. It is mildly bactericidal, good for any skin infections and wrinkles and is a tissue regenerative. It also has antiseptic, cleansing and astringent properties and will help to balance sebum levels on the skin. It should be applied more than once during the day, and more often if the weather is hot.
